Our story - Jen
Life is hard. But managing the basics shouldn't be. MyArk can't remove the bumps in the road, but we can help you absorb them.
Jen's dad was an accountant and taught her the basics, but even then, life is great at showing you what you don't know!
Having been unable to work for a year due to a major accident and then losing her mum when she was young, unexpectedly having to sort out her affairs, even with the foundations it was still overwhelming. Jen kept thinking how impossible it would have been if she hadn't had a Dad whose bedtime stories were less peter rabbit and more an explanation of inflation vs employment.
After 12 years in finance as her second career (and being a Captain in the Army as her first), plus husband, kids and six house moves, she was being asked more and more frequently about managing finances, mortgages and compound interest. There was clearly a void
Our story - Cathy
Life is hard. But managing the basics shouldn't be. MyArk can't remove the bumps in the road, but we can help you absorb them.
Cathy moved to London at 19. A personal lack of financial education took years to overcome. It's madness that no-one teaches us this at school. Our information is everywhere spread out in various places making it hard to keep track of and even harder to know what to do with it. Cathy kept missing MOT, was slammed by insurance autorenewal and together with being a working mum - had lack of time to really manage it all.
As a military spouse, life in the military magnifies all these issues: frequently moving (Cathy has moved 5 times in 5 years) and having your spouse serving away for long periods of time.
Managing the finances and home life alone is hard at the best of times, but harder when you can't access the right documents and information when you need them. It was clear there had to be a better way.
